This Springfield Armory M1 Garand, manufactured in December 1955, is one of the last official runs of the legendary M1 Garand before production shifted focus to newer rifle platforms. As a post-Korean War production model, it reflects Springfield’s final refinements to the design after lessons learned in both World War II and the Korean War.
This rifle features a 2.5 to almost 3.0 barrel, which may require replacement but remains a solid foundation for collectors seeking an authentic M1 Garand at a more accessible price point. By the mid-1950s, M1 Garands like this were still being used by U.S. military forces in Cold War-era conflicts, including in early advisory missions to Vietnam.
These rifles were supplied to NATO allies under the Military Assistance Program (MAP), helping arm Western European nations during rising tensions with the Soviet Union. An excellent opportunity for collectors, restorers, or enthusiasts who appreciate the enduring legacy of the M1 Garand.
