- Lot Description
An exceptionally rare Roman Oil Lamp Mould carved from gypsum, dating to the 5th–6th century AD. Unlike the lamps themselves, original molds are seldom found, as most were discarded or destroyed after use. This surviving half displays geometric heart and clover motifs, suggesting a romantic theme. Originating from an old English collection formed in the 1970s, it offers a rare glimpse into the lamp-making techniques of late antiquity.
