• Lot Description

  A highly collectible Model 1829 Mounted Cannonier Officer’s Saber, complete with its original metal scabbard. The blade is ornately engraved along the spine with the inscription “Sabre de Officier de Cannonier Monté” and bears the marking "Manufacture Royale de Chatellerault Mai 1838". This pattern saber was carried by mounted artillery officers in the French military and later saw use during the American Civil War.

  This saber features a gracefully curved blade with a flat spine and fullers, designed for both cutting and thrusting. The brass hilt includes a single-branch guard, a short cap, and a wooden grip wrapped in leather with brass filigree. Recognized in reference books such as Sabres Portés pour l'Armée Française by Jean Lhoste & Resek, this piece is an exceedingly rare example of French military weaponry. A must-have for collectors of historical sabers and Napoleonic-era arms.
