- Lot Description
This NSKOV (National Socialist War Victim’s Care) Lapel Pin was issued as a donation badge to support wounded and disabled German veterans of WWI and WWII. The pin is maker-marked "H2", a designation identifying its production origin. Featuring a traditional design, it represents the NSDAP-era veterans' aid organization, which provided financial assistance, medical care, and employment support to those injured in military service.
The NSKOV was established in 1934, incorporating earlier veterans' organizations into the German-controlled structure aimed at reinforcing party ideology while offering support to former soldiers. The group’s insignia often depicted a steel helmet and sword, symbolizing both the sacrifice and continued strength of Germany’s veterans. These lapel pins were commonly distributed to those who contributed financially to the organization, making them both a historical relic and a representation of the broader militarization of German society under the Third Reich.
