- Lot Description
This is an original set of WW2-era NSDAP Police Officer Shoulder Boards, specifically designed for officers serving in either the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) or Schutzmannschaften (Schuma) units. These units operated under the German occupation authorities and were responsible for maintaining security and order, often in collaboration with the SS and Gestapo. The Schutzmannschaften were composed of auxiliary police recruited from occupied territories, while the SD functioned as the NSDAP intelligence service.
The shoulder boards are crafted from black wool, featuring white piping and green embroidered swastikas—a distinct combination indicating use by officers rather than enlisted personnel. The officer version of these shoulder boards is significantly rarer than standard enlisted variants, making them a highly desirable piece of WWII German militaria.
This set remains in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. These shoulder boards are an excellent acquisition for collectors specializing in German wartime-era police and SS insignia.
Provenance: The Late Clyde Davis Collection - as seen in Military Advisor Magazine 2024 – Clyde R. Davis was an avid German WW2 Collector specializing in Hitler Youth memorabilia.
