- Lot Description
This is an exceptionally rare German WWII M40 Waffen SS Double Decal Steel Helmet, featuring both the iconic double decals of the SS and the swastika party shield of the Deutsches Reich. The SS decal retains approximately 40% of its original detail, while the swastika party shield is about 30% intact. This Waffen SS M40 has the marking of "ET64" on the inside, as shown by the light-enhanced image #8. The helmet still has the original camouflage wire attached, a feature often used by Waffen SS and SS troops for battlefield concealment.
The liner is in great condition and could be original but was likely replaced post-war. Although the chinstrap is missing due to time, the helmet remains in solid battlefield condition and retains the immense value from both of the intact decals. These double decal SS helmets are among the most sought-after artifacts of WWII, representing the elite Schutzstaffel (SS) divisions.
