- Lot Description
An original WW2 German Spanish Cross in Silver with Swords, awarded to Helmut Presche, Head Machine Mate, for his service during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). This prestigious combat decoration, issued in 1939, was awarded to German military personnel who actively participated in combat operations alongside Franco’s forces.
The award certificate, custom matted and framed, is printed on high-quality parchment paper and bears a facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler. The accompanying medal, crafted from silver alloy, features a central roundel of the cross and a mobile swastika, the quadrants between the arms of the cross are adorned with Luftwaffe eagles clutching mobile swastikas and crossed swords, meant to symbolize valor in battle.
This preserved set showcases distinct Third Reich typography, official insignia, and award formatting. Featuring facsimile signatures and the state emblem of the time, making this an essential piece for collectors of Spanish Civil War and WW2 German militaria. A relic from the fascinating link between the NSDAP/German forces and the Spanish nationalist forces during WW2.
