An exceptional 17th-18th century German Hunting Sword with a double fuller blade and elaborately carved hunting scenes in the Hilt. The original leather and metal sheath remains intact. The carved crossguard has a Dog and Boar head on opposite sides. This piece represents the height of craftsmanship and functionality from the era and was traditionally carried by German nobility and hunters. This sword was not only a practical and effective weapon but also a symbol of status and the art of the hunt.
The intricately carved hilt, featuring a stag's head and detailed hunting scenes, showcases the exceptional skill of the craftsman and the importance placed on both artistry and utility at the time. The swords blade, forged with precision, was designed to deliver powerful and efficient blows during the hunt, while the luxurious decoration of the handle, likely made from stag antler, tells a story of the deep cultural ties to nature and the sport of hunting.
