Hand-Drawn Map of the Movements of the Unit that was the First to Meet the Russians at the River Elbe, 1330 April 30, 1945: "3rd Platoon, Troop C, 125th Cav. Sq., 113 Cav. Grp. Yanks, 1st Bn., 340th Inf. Regt., 121st Div." Showing 'Route of March' (with cartoon commentary), from landing in Normandy on 17th June, 1944 (11 days after D-Day), bypassing Paris on 31 Aug; crossing into Belgium 5 Sept; crossing into Germany 21 Oct; crossing the Rhine 29 March 1945; crossing the Elbe (the only bridgehead) 30 April. They were less than 80 miles from Berlin, stopped by Ike so the Russians could take Berlin. In green painted wood frame, under glass, 32" x 97" (8'-1") overall. Good condition, very heavy.
Probably done by a member of the unit, perhaps for his VFW Hall?
