- Lot Description
Original Display Wood Carving of Two Herons by Wendell H. Gilley of Southwest Harbor, ME (1904-1983), signed and dated 1960 on the carved base and incorporating a piece of driftwood. Includes the carver's copy of his own book "Bird Carving, A Guide to a Fascinating Hobby" published in 1961 by Bonanza Books of NY, which features a photo of a very similar heron carving on the front cover. Also his rubber stamp, used for the underside of his work (a $1 bill with the stamp is inside the book). The sculpture is roughly 18" x 12" x 5" overall. Very good condition.
