Figured Mahogany Secretary Desk attributed to John & Thomas Seymour of Boston, circa 1800, having a three urn finial top with concave frieze, shell inlay, two diamond pane doors over two shelves, above faux tambour inlaid doors concealing valanced compartments and small drawers, center cabinet, all locking (with keys). The lower stepped-out cabinet has booked crotch veneers, replaced green felt fold-out writing surface, repeating shell inlay at top of stiles, two beaded edge drawers over two cabinet doors, unusually flanked by deep and narrow bottle drawers, all with original pressed brass rosette pulls. 87" tall overall, 32" to writing surface, 43" x 21". Veneer loss to front edge of desk. Old repairs to crest.
