- Lot Description
"Portrait of Lena Hofstaedter", black crayon on thin wove paper mounted on heavier cream wove paper, 1946, signed and dated 'A.9.2.46' lower right. (Beckmann moved to Amsterdam in 1940, thus the A in the date), he emigrated to America in 1947. In fatigued gold gesso frame, matted and glazed, OS: 24" x 21", SS: 8" x 6 1/2". Thinned upper corners, nick in bottom edge.
