Garden Figure of the 'historical' figure Bodhidharma, who is said to have been the founder of Chan Buddhism in China, and is always depicted with a beard. Seated on a draped throne with one knee up, with finely delineated robes and a lively expression of joy on his face, late 19th to early 20th c. Meiji. 24 1/2" x 13" x 7 1/2". Cracked back to base.
