Per the consignor: "This exceptionally fine obi was made by a renowned obi company in Japan's premiere fabric district of Nishijin near Kyoto. Zentsu obi are fully patterned on just one side, making them essentially half-maru/half fukuro obi. Although maru obi are patterned on both sides making them the most formal, a zentsu of this caliber could easliy compete in appearance with any maru. Since the unpatterned side is not likely to be seen when worn, it might not be recognized as an imposter. The intricately woven design of this obi uses all silk and 24-carat gold thread, and would retail today for over 6000. It is new, unworn, and a remarkable example of traditional Japanese culture and craftmanship." 176" long, 12" wide.
