- Lot Description
Massachusetts Chippendale Mahogany having well shaped crest with carved ears, pierced carved backsplat, period slip seat frame, cabriole front legs with sharply carved knees, connected by block and turned stepped box stretchers, ending in bold Queen Anne pad feet. Third quarter 18th c., 17 1/2" seat, 39" back, 23" x 19 1/2", retaining the original finish. A similar example is displayed at the Winterthur Museum, Delaware. Good condition.
