- Lot Description
English Silk on Linen Pictorial Sampler, by Mabella Jane Dobson of Chesterfield (Derbyshire, England), dated June 14, 1833, featuring birds, deer and flowers, having a vine border and the statement: "They who are moderate in their expectations, meet with few disappointments. The eager and presumptuous are continually disappointed - virtue and good behavior are naturally productive of good fortune". In vintage gold and black cove frame, glazed, OS: 16 1/2" square, SS: 12 1/2" square. Toned, very minor edge loss.
