Bodhisattva Maitreya, Pakistan, 2nd-3rd c. AD, grey schist figure of the future Buddha, his face tranquil beneath an elaborate coiffure secured by a diadem with a stupa-shaped detail at the center, wearing intricate jewelry, fragment of arm and hand holding a lotus to left, portion of architectural column behind, roughly 8 1/2" tall. Condition as found. Provenance: From a Rockland Maine estate.
