19th c. Cast Bronze Ship's Bell, engraved "Crest of the Wave, Liverpool" on one side and "Wm. Pile, Jr., Building, Sunderland", Pile (1823-1873) on the other. Pile was a prolific builder of wood, iron and composite ships launched between 1853 and 1877. The 184-foot "Crest of the Wave" was launched in 1853. 7 1/2" high, bell only, (14" with hanger), 9" diam. Surface wear.
