Lovely Early English Desk, mid 18th c., in boldly figured walnut veneer having a molded hinged front with cross banded edge and herringbone stringing, brass butterfly escutcheon, concealing an inset moss green tooled leather writing surface, exposed butt hinges, fitted with central prospect door, flanked by valanced letter slots over two drawers. The case has four graduated drawers with matching cross banded molded edge, what appears to be the original brass drop bails with butterfly escutcheons, matching lockplates, raised on molded bracket base. 29 1/2" to writing surface, 39 1/2" x 36" x 22 1/2". Some old restoration.
