The Thirsty Rider, watercolor on paper, signed lower right and dated 1898, depicting a young woman, stopping during a solo bicycle ride in the countryside to drink from a public trough, while three locals look on. She is dressed in a riding outfit of cap, jacket, jodhpurs and knee-high gaiters, hard to say if the costume or the machine has caused more of a stir, in the original gilt oak panel frame with egg and dart edge, dimensional mat, under UV plexi, OS: 28 1/2" x 35 1/2", SS: 14" x 21". Fine condition.
