Portrait of Lady Sophia Talbot, oil on canvas, unsigned, subject identified verso, circa 1640, a lovely young lady in striped green foliate silk gown with lace collar and red ribbon trim, pearl choker with garnet pendant, single white feather in her red hair, a lively look on her face, within a painted oval spandrel, in an oblong hand carved period appropriate gilt frame. OS: 34 1/2" x 29 1/2", SS: 30" x 24". Cleaned, retouched and relined. From a Newton, Massachusetts estate.
