- Lot Description
Federal Period Officer's Dress Sword, Cavalry Sabre, after the 1796 English Hussar pattern, 32" blade, with bone grip, bronze D-guard having a twisted backstrap, hilt with scroll, star flanges, blued blade with gilt scrollwork, etched silver panel, broad fuller. The original brass scabbard has engraved American Eagle in profile standing atop an American Shield. 37" long overall. Light corrosion to blade, some edge damage, dents to scabbard.
