Oval Portraits in similar oblong frames, both 19th c., watercolor on ivory, of French subjects, including: a Profile of Maximilien Robespierre (1758-1794) Political Leader of the Revolutionary Reign of Terror, signed "Gioconda" and dated 1825, brass trim on domed glass, brass acorn hanger, OS: 6 3/4" x 5 1/2", SS: 3 3/8" x 2 7/8"; PLUS one of his victims, Princesse de Lamballe, Marie-Louise Thérèse of Savoy-Carignan (1749-1792), a member of the wealthiest family of France, and closest friend of Marie Antoinette. She was murdered by a crowd in the street when she refused to denounce the King and Queen. Signed 'Grube'. Under brass trimmed domed glass. OS: 7" x 6", SS: 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Both in good condition.
