Silk on Linen Memorial by Mary Louisa Van Saun, aged 8 in 1841, for her recently departed 29 year old mother, Jane Louisa Van Saun, who died in childbirth in Feb of that year, and her infant sister, Jane Eletta Van Saun, who lived but 18 days. Gravestone with their initials at top under weeping willows, the whole surrounded by flowering ivy. In mahogany stick frame, under glass. OS: 18 1/2" square, SS: 17 1/2" square. Fine condition.
The Saun family lived in Paterson, NJ. Mary Louisa (1832-1916) married Henry A. Williams (1821-1888) of that same town, who became a Prosecutor and then State Senator. He was Director of the board for many important companies, died while attending service in the Church of the Redeemer, of which he was an elder and President of the Board of Trustees.
