- Lot Description
Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), Military Appointment, ink on parchment, partly printed, signed on December 30, 1812, authorizing Jean-Joseph Dejoannis to continue in the service of the King of Westphalia, outlining conditions of service. Document boldly signed by Napoleon as Emperor, counter-signed by the French Minister of Justice, Claude Ambroise Régnier, duc de Massa, (1746-1814) and the Secretary of State, Pierre-Antoine-Noël-Mathieu Bruno Daru, (1767-1829). Bauman Rare Books slip verso. Framed with an engraved portrait by Aristide Louis, dated 1841, after the Paul Delaroche 1838 painting. OS: 22" x 39". 15 1/2" x 21 1/2" document, 13 3/4" x 12 1/2" portrait. Very good condition. PLUS: Framed Bronze Plaque, "Napoleon Empereur", cast bronze bas relief of the period, unsigned, in black frame with engraved tag, bronze hanging chain, OS: 10 1/2" sq, SS: 7 1/4" sq.
