Brisbane: Woodcock, Powell, & Mellefont, 1884.
First Edition.
22cm x 14.5cm. xvi, 248 pages, lithographed frontispiece and title page (title page with coloured highlights), 10 plates, 1 folding map. Cloth, gilt lettering.A weekly newspaper published on board the Otago during a four months' voyage from Glasgow to Brisbane. Also containing a Complete and Truthful Statement of the Privations and Negligences experienced by the Emigrants on the Voyage, likewise a Description of the Treatment shown towards the Immigrants in the Depot on their arrival here, and of the manner in which Government Inquiries are conducted. Rare shipboard journal during a Scottish emigrant's voyage to Brisbane in 1884. "Twelve issues of a weekly newspaper published on board the Otago during a four months' voyage from Glasgow to Brisbane, a collection of poems written by Keith Cameron and others. There follow about 80 pages of diaries, journals, letters to the editor of The Gull, copies of petitions submitted to the Immigration Board in Brisbane and transcripts of personal testimonies made at the Immigration Board Inquiry."
