  Anna Pavlova Signed Photograph

  25.5cm x 18.5cm. Silver gelatin photograph. Mounted.

  A photograph of Anna Pavlova in costume for Gavotte, on stage posing en pointe, ca. 1926. Signed Anna Pavlova on the mount.

  Anna Pavlova visited Australia in 1926 and 1929. Both tours were organised by the J.C. Williamson organisation. Monte Luke, who had earlier been a successful stage actor and film-maker, worked as their official photographer. The photograph is illustrated on the Monte Luke Studio website titled "Invitation to the dance".

  Good tonality with silvering to the edges. Very Good Condition.

  Offered together with Anna Pavlova in Art and Life. By V. Dandre. London, Cassell, 1932. 24cm x 18cm. [8], 409 pages with many illustrations. Orig. cloth with portrait inlay, in the original slipcase. Illustrations on pages 93 and 132 show Pavlova dancing Gavotte.
