Map of Australia: Compiled from the Nautical Surveys, made by order of The Admiralty and other authentic documents / by James Wyld, Geographer to the Queen.

56cm x 82cm (sheet size) folded to 20cm x 12cm. Hand coloured linen backed engraved map, slipcase.Hand coloured engraved map of Australia with insets of Van Diemens Land and the World. The map marks Sturt's and Mitchell's exploration of the Darling and Murray, as well as the Victoria River, central west Queensland (discoverd by Mitchell in 1845), the northermost named location in South Australia is Mt Hopeless (named by Eyre in 1840), neither Ballarat nor Castleton (Sandhurst / Bendigo) is marked.
Folder with onlaid label with early previous owner's name. Toning across one horizontal fold. Small rub to lower right section.

A packing and handling charge of AU$10 for single book and small groups of lots applies. Large box lot(s) are charged at AU$20 per box. Large and fragile lots billed per half-hour.
Postage costs are charged at our contract carrier rates on top of the handling fee and shipped via the most practical carrier, usually Australia Post or FedEx, though other couriers may be used. Standard and express services are available.
