Delphis: Adrianum Beman, 1728.
25cm x 19cm. [122], 802, [214] pages, engraved frontispiece, 2 small engravings in the text. Full vellum, manuscript lettering. Text is in Latin."A very elaborate and celebrated edition-accompanied with a new and excellent index-of almost all the words and phrases of Seneca." (Dibdin, Greek and Latin Classics)
Moderate shelf wear. Some browning and foxing. Pencil marginalia to page 232. Two ownership entries to front free endpaper: The first is Frederic Sinner 1769, possibly Friedrich Sinner (1731-1791), a Swiss lawyer and magistrate, who is known to have had a keen interest in literature and art. Sinner was also the mayor of Berne from 1771 until his death in 1791. Very Good Condition.
