The human person and her story have always fascinated me. We often suppress our pains and feelings but they manage to leave scars on our bodies and souls. I capture traces of these suppressed stories and express them in abstract ways. I work in acrylic, watercolor, ink, charcoal, pastel, mixed media, and in clay and wood. For me, the excitement lies in the process, a dynamic encounter between the artist and the subject where after the first stroke of pen or brush a third element, the piece, enters the dynamism, and finally there are viewers who are invited to join with their own interpretations. I was born in Tehran and now live and work in New York City. I earned my MA in Linguistics and have studied painting and sculpture at The Art Students League of New York. I have held several solo shows and group exhibitions in different cities including New York, Tehran, London, Florence, and Prague. My latest solo exhibition titled "being born into the storm" was held in Vali Art gallery in 2020, and I have exhibited my work at London Art Biennale and Tokyo International Art Fair in 2021.
