Manhattan-based artist Kathleen Erin Lee grew up on Long Island and began her formal art training at The Stevenson Academy of Traditional Painting in Sea Cliff, NY. She received a BA (Cum Laude) in Art History from C.W. Post College then continued her studies at The National Academy of Design and The Art Students League, focusing on figure and portrait painting. Her interest in plein air painting led her to Monhegan Island, Maine where she studied with internationally known impressionist artist, Don Stone. Her love of plein air painting led her to take trips to the Greek Islands, Ireland, France, Mexico, the Southwest and throughout New England. She was awarded the Kokarkultur Artist Residency in the Aland Islands, Finland in 2006. Other awards include the Abbey Fund Grant from The National Academy of Design and a Mill Atelier Residency in Santa Fe, NM.
