Internationally recognized artist, Carole McDermott, has a B.F.A. from the University of Denver and has studied for many years at The Art Students League of New York. She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS), a vice president of the AWS Board, an elected member of the Allied Artist of America, and served as an elected member of The Art Students League Board of Control. She has participated in exhibitions across the United States and received numerous awards and grants for her work. Carole teaches classes and workshops around the country. She lives half the year in NYC and half in Colorado.
Artist Statement: Why do we paint? From my perspective - it is to communicate, to share the wonder, to catch a sensation - to know we are not alone. I look for the abstract design in nature to influence me and contrast it with man-made structures. I strive to let go, surrender logic and shift against detail like contrast and change in life. Strong brushstroke, a splash and gentle wash pattern are my signature.
