• Lot Description

  "Winter Thaw" by Johanna W. McKenzie, Little Compton, Rhode Island

  Painting: oil on panel
  sight size: 6 x 9 inches
  framed: 13 x 16 framed -- gold fillet with linen insert

  Artist Bio: Johanna exhibits primarily at shows, galleries, and museums on the East Coast. In 2008 she was awarded the Medal of Honor (Oil Painting) at the 112th Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Annual Open Juried Show at the National Arts Club, NYC. In 2011 she had a solo show at the Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI, focusing on her landscape paintings. She regularly exhibits at the Providence Art Club, Providence, RI. Her painting are imbued with the spirit of the American Luminists and celebrate the natural landscape and unique light of the coastal zone. She frames her paintings with a unique hand carved, guilded frame, with gold filet and linen insert to highlight the paintings as a window to nature.
