"Cherries Atop a Roemer" by Debra Keirce, Broadlands, Virginia
Painting: oil on board
sight size: 25 inches x 30 inches
framed: 30 inches x 35 inches
This piece is an homage to master Dutch still life painter Pieter de Ring. In 1655 he painted "Still Life of Cherries Over a Roemer" and I have always been inspired by the play of shadow and light and color in his painting.
Exhibits: Exhibited at Koshinkan Museum in Tokyo Japan Jan - Feb of 2020, in the "Six Perspectives" group show of six artists from Japan and America.
Artist Bio: Debra Keirce applied skills from her career in biochemical engineering to learning all she could about painting realistically. She approaches her art from a problem solving and process optimization perspective. Debra paints in layers of oil pigments the way European masters have for centuries, but she utilizes modern resources and materials to convey a heightened level of realism. She strives to leave viewers with a warm and happy feeling that urges them to bring the joy home.
