"And Then She Was Gone" by Victoria Castillo, The Woodlands, TX
Painting: Oil on Linen Panel
sight size: 16" x 10"
framed: 21" x 15"
This painting was based on sketches I did at the Green Gables Inn in Pacific Grove, CA. The inn is a lovely Victorian mansion with an original stained glass front door. I had hired a model to pose for me in a nearby garden. However, as we were heading out the front door I told her to stop because the scene was so perfect I had to paint it!
Exhibits & Awards: The painting received the Bronze Medal at the Women Artists of the West National Exhibition. It was also exhibited at the Virtuosos of the Oil Painters of America Exhibition.
Artist Bio: Victoria is a classically trained figure painter whose work focuses on women in light-infused settings. She strives to create the illusion of the natural world, while at the same time emphasizing the abstract qualities of the paint itself.
Victoria's paintings have received top awards at national exhibitions, appear regularly in the magazines Southwest Art, Art of the West, American Art Collector and International Artist and have been spotted on HGTV's House Hunter's International. Victoria is both a Signature Member and on the Board of Directors of Oil Painters of America, as well as an elected Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club. Victoria teaches workshops internationally.
