ARTIST: Eric Orr (Covington, Kentucky, Venice, Los Angeles, California, 1939-1998), James Lee Byars (Detriot, Michigan, Cairo, Egypt (1932-1997)
TITLE: Zero Mass (book), The Sphere of Generosity (clay multiple)
MEDIUM: Steel bound book and handmade clay multiple
DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is a limited edition book bound in blue steel that includes “The Matter of O,†a rubber-stamped stain of Orr’s blood; “Skull Page,†made of handmade paper using Kozo fibers and a powdered mummy skull with red screenprinting. Pages 25 / 26 were hand-torn by the artist. The book, a monograph / catalogue raisonné by Orr with interventions by Byars, and multiple are housed in a large polystyrene box. This production was produced in 1990 and limited to 1,000 copies. The sale does not include the cardboard slipcase.The book is in fine condition with minor oxidation to the steel cover, see photos. The clay multiple is in fine condition with no obvious flaws, see photos. The piece will be carefully shipped in a cardboard box.Condition
