- Lot Description
Fitted with a paper label # 6217 Washoe Datsolalee, and a vintage labeled 'F59'.
7 1/2 x 6 in.
Note: Louisa Keys, born in 1829, was a preeminent basket weaver of the Washoe people in northwestern Nevada. Her basketry came to national attention during the Arts and Crafts movement and the "basket craze" of the early 20th Century. Louisa predominately constructed her baskets of willow then wove a variety of strands around the willow base. She was represented by Amy and Abram Cohn who sold her baskets in their Emporium Company in Carson City, Nevada. The Cohn's documented her baskets from 1895-1925.
