Please note that these consoles have been adapted, they started out as a single long console table, not divided into two separate consoles. The palm frond supports are by Serge Roche and the original table made by Maison Jansen. See image of original form.
35 1/2 x 42 x 18 1/2 in.
Note: Serge Roche (1898-1988) was a French designer and artist in the mid 20th century. Roche was fascinated by Baroque and Rococo furnishings and mirrored cabinets. He designed and created unusual pieces from plaster, stucco and mirrored elements, such as plaster palm frond torcheres, and mirrored obelisks. He collaborated with other designers and craftsman such as Gilbert Poillerat and was inspired by Emilio Terry. Roche has many exceptional commissions from Arturo Lopez, Coco Chanel, Charles de Beistegui and Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles. The above offered lot is a fine example of Roche's inventive and creative mind.
Minor scuffing and nicks along the edges of the marble tops, one with a few scattered stains. The palm frond supports with scattered nicks and wear. Good scale and nicely carved. The marble tops of later date.
Notwithstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
