Acrylic on brown paper, unsigned, stamped 'J. Michael Newell / Original Collection / 1900-1985' lower left, with note from granddaughter, Valerie Ducos, on the back of the frame. Note: James Michael Newell is best known for his murals completed for the Works Progress Administration. Newell incorporated fresco techniques that he learned while studying in France and Italy into his WPA commissions., 16 1/2 x 22 in. (sight), 21 1/4 x 26 3/4 in. (frame).
