Comprising:
One mat mounted on frame
Two circular table or chair mats, one with 'Grenfell Labrador Industries' label
A 'Sweet Pea (Beach Pea)' mat with red and black border
A textile backed pansy mat
The frame mounted mat 21 x 24 1/2 in. (frame).
Note: A similar 'Sweet Pea' design is illustrated in Paula Laverty's Silk Stocking Mats (McGill-Queen's Press, 2005) on p. 114. This design was created by Rhoda Dawson and was in production by 1935, most often seen in a smaller round chair or table mat format.
Exhibited: The circular 'Starfish' botanical with brown border. Grenfell Rugs, July 12 - August 27, 1988, San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, San Jose, CA.
Condition
Wear consistent with age and use. All with some scattered soiling and staining. Some scattered snags and pulls. The textile backing of the pansy mat with significant wear and fraying. Otherwise in good condition.
