7 5/8 x 14 3/4 in. diam.
Note: The Portland Vase is a Roman cameo glass vase, which is approximately dated between AD 1 and AD 25. It is the best-known piece of Roman cameo glass and has served as an inspiration to many glass and English porcelain makers including Wedgwood from the beginning of the 18th century onwards. First recorded in Rome in 1600–1601, from 1810 it has been part of the collection of the British Museum in London. The museum held it on loan from the dukes of Portland until 1945 when it was purchased.
Condition
Minor wear, a few abrasions and losses to the decoration. Otherwise in good condition.
