- Lot Description
Lars-Gustaf Sellstedt (Swedish/Am.1819-1911) oil on canvas portrait of young boy. Family history says this is the portrait of Edwin Morgan Fargo (1861-1865) son of William Fargo, founder of Wells-Fargo and American Express with his partner Henry Wells. Edwin died at an early age and this is believed to be him. Sellstedt was a prominent portrait painter in Buffalo, N.Y. in the 1960's. Young boy seated on a tree in his fine clothes, his dog stands at his feet. 56"H. x 35"W. in the original large ornate frame, 66.5"H. x 46.5"W. overall signed mid right on tree Sellstedt 1865
