Yasha Zhylin, WAR IS NOT OVER, village in the Dnipro, Ukraine, 2022
Description: In Kyiv on the 24th, while preparing important things for an emergency, I could not help but take the camera. I understood that when leaving somewhere for a safer place, I would need to create even in such conditions. This project was already in my head. Something about the war.
The project was filmed during the second and third month of the war, when I was with my grandmother in a village in Dnipro. My family and I went there to wait out the active onslaught of the offensive on Kyiv. This photo depicts my youngest sister Anastasia.
For the first month I read and watched the news every day, wrote down, and collected visuals of all the incidents... It was not psychologically easy. This is not like setting the mood for a fashion shoot. This is real news and developments outside the window, real deaths and loss, real war. Based on the collected material, I sketched ideas and looked for visual forms to convey the story.
The presented work has a subtext of terrible incidents with young girls in such places as Bucha, Irpin, Gostomel... And also about the fact that the younger generations grow up in wartime conditions. Distance Learning. Lessons taught in school bomb shelters. All this has an impact on their formation and life as a whole.

Yasha Zhylin, 24 years old. A photographer from Kyiv, Ukraine.
Received art education at Taras Shevchenko State Secondary School and architecture education at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. I started filming in the last years of school. My main shooting genres are fashion and still life. I mostly shoot editorials for magazines, campaigns and lookbooks for designers.
My architectural education gave me a graphic and compositional vision. I perceive the world through shape, color, objects and their combinations. I'm a photographer who creates a shot, not catches it. Before shooting, I usually analyze the task, research and draw a storyboard. I like working with objects, as I can fully control the result in the frame. Detailing, conceptual approach, a minimum of objects, maximum of feelings.
I shoot with both digital and film cameras. I have extensive experience working with Ukrainian clothing and jewelry brands, including: Elena Burenina, Litkovskaya, Bobkova, Vozianov, Artem Klimchuk, Poustovit, RCR Khomenko, Grie, Personal Parade, Rumors...
My works were published in such magazines as: Vogue Italia (printed, April issue 2022), Vogue Spain (printed, April issue 2022), Vogue Polska, Buro 24/7 UA, L'Officiel UA, Fucking Young, Sicky Mag, Paper Mag, Kaltblut Mag. Achievements: had three times "Pic of the Day" on the Photo Vogue Italia platform. Winner of the IYDC competition "Best Fashion Story", 2019. Personal photo exhibition "Not only for gays" 2021.
