Limited edition out of artist’s print: 1 of 10 available on BidsquareRoman Bordun | Based in Lviv, is a photographer and film director, a member of UPHA (Ukrainian Photography Alternative). He works in the naïve genre. Roman captures the spirit of time and kitsch by combining media cliches with classic performance. The author investigates the privacy law, questioning its existence in today’s digital era. In 2019, he debuted with the full-length film “The Diviners” at Docudays UA and DOK Leipzig festivals. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he has been actively shooting in the de-occupied territories.
Description: Photos from "Let's keep it for better times" project, 2022. Visible destruction became part of the landscape of the de-occupied north of Ukraine. Foreign politicians and journalists come to see them. Witnesses and victims of crimes are trying to get used to their new status. They resemble museum workers, demonstrating their ruins to a curious audience. Domestic clutter reminds me of a life that has become a tourist attraction. However, there remains a side that cannot be evaluated from the outside. I am talking about a private disaster that has turned into a museum of dust and ashes. This side of the tragedy remains unattainable to the visitor. When and how did the sense of normality cease to exist?
