Pierre Paul Emmanuel de Pommayrac (French, 1807-1880) "He loves me, He loves her not", circa 1877.
A French oil painting on board by a Miniaturist Master Painter, depicting two elegant woman with a dog hound in an interior scene. Exceptionally painted faces and hands, with fine attention to the woman's' silk dresses. In original gilt-wood frame.
Signed and dated 'P. de Pommayrac / 1877.' (lower right)

Pierre Pommayrac is a student of Baron Gros in Paris and the miniaturist Lizinka de Mirbel. He specializes in miniature portraits and exhibited at the International Salons from 1835. He was also awarded and decorated with the Legion of Honor in 1852.
In 1855, Pommayrac exhibited a portrait of Emperor Napoleon III at the Paris Salon, under no. 3821/1. In 1861, a portrait of Empress Eugenie was exhibited. He executed many aristocratic portraits including those of Madame de Montijo and the Duchess of Alba, the mother and sister of the Empress Eugenie respectively.
