• Lot Description
  Lambertus van den Wildenberg (Dutch 1803-1857) "Ascension of John The Baptist", circa 1870. After the renowned Old Master Painter Peter Paul Rubens. Very fine quality painting and subject. Very surreal. This painting would enhance any room. Signed and dated lower right - "L. van den Wildenbergh 1870" Overall in very good condition. No damages. No tears. Presents very well. Frame with wear consistent with age and use. Sight :45" high x 33" wide Frame: 49" high x 37" wide x 2" deep Lambertus van den Wildenbergh was a Dutch painter, draftsman and photographer. For several decades he was the city drawing master at the Teekenschool in Eindhoven. He was the son of a watchmaker from Arnhem. He studied from approximately 1821 to 1822 at the Royal School for Useful and Visual Arts in Den Bosch and completed his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp , possibly with Mathias van Bree . When he was in Brussels in 1836, he married the Eindhoven MJ van Antwerp and together they had five children. From a few years after his marriage, he was attached to the Teekenschool in Eindhoven (1839-1857) as city drawing master. In the meantime, he painted the Stations of the Cross of four North Brabant churches between 1844 and 1850 He also made portraits of various Brabant notables. His paintings were included in the collection of Museum Kempenland in Eindhoven. He was also one of the early photographers. He worked with the daguerreotype technique.
