A French Empire ormolu and patinated bronze mantel (fireplace) clock with huntress diana, circa 1805.
The clock dial signed 'Vasse à Paris', and with the inscription 'quam indicat utiliter impende' ('what it shows, use to advantage') bell striking silk suspension movement, the drum case surmounted by a figure of Diana the Huntress holding a fowl in one hand and drawing an arrow from the quiver on her back, above a waterfall flanked by bullrushes, the bow-ended breakfront plinth inset with a plaque depicting a stag hunt, raised on toupie feet.
Measures: 19" high x 16" wide x 4" deep
Overall in excellent condition. Diana lacking moon to her diadem, lacking key, back lacking cover. We cannot guarantee the time-keeping of this clock.
