Donated by Anna Ward, Deputy Director of the Fine Wines department at Skinner: "Art takes many forms. From a painting, to an album, a book, a flower arrangement or a glass of wine. Each is an expression of the person who created it. Each has a little of heart and soul put into it. You don’t have to be “an artist” to make art. Remembering art is everywhere, whether you create it or not, is what makes life exciting.
It’s unusual to think of a glass of wine as a form of art, but it is. The winemaker is an artist; picking, selecting, blending, fermenting and aging each vintage with deft hands. Wine, like other art, suffers from imitations, mass productions, market saturation. But sometimes, when you raise a glass of wine to your lips, there’s a little of someone’s heart and soul in the glass.
Wine + Peace is recognizing those artists and trailblazers who make wine as an art. You will not find mass marketed wine in their shop. Every wine they offer is an expression of someone’s passion, their heart and soul, bottled up and waiting for you to experience it."
Note: Wine + Peace is a new kind of wine company — a movement built on the idea that playful exploration and shared experience are fundamental to a more vibrant relationship with wine and with each other. Our mission at Wine + Peace is not only to connect you to the most exciting wines and producers in America, but to build a community that puts people first. Let’s call it radical inclusivity. We believe that wine is for everyone — and that it should reflect our values, not just our tastes. So we built a mission-driven marketplace (no markups, no middlemen) that lets you shop direct from the country's best small producers while championing the values you care about most.
