- Lot Description
William Wyman (1922-1980) Studio Pottery Brutalist Mirror, Boston, Massachusetts, mid-20th century, slab-built frame, matte dark brown glaze, incised mark "WW," approx. ht. 16 1/2, approx. wd. 23, approx. dp. 2 in.
Note: In 1957, Wyman received his BS in Education from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, Massachusetts followed by his MA from Columbia University, New York, in 1951. In 1953 he attended New York State College of Art, Alfred University, Alfred, New York. In 1962 he co-founded Herring Run Pottery with Michael Cohen, East Weymouth, Massachusetts. Wyman is well-known for a series of stoneware slab built vessels often covered with sgraffito cartoons, poems or other contemporary phrases.Condition
Condition: Firing cracks visible on the back, probably repaired in studio.
