Dawn in the Desert Southwest
Signed "W. Keith" l.l.
Oil on pressed paperboard, 23 x 27 in. (58.4 x 68.5 cm), framed (under glass).
Condition: Varnish discoloration.
Provenance: A Massachusetts educational institution.
Estimate $1,500-2,500
Condition: No retouch visible under black-light. Varnish discoloration more noticeable in the sky. Some varnish inconsistency in the foliage of the center tree, where the darkest pigment presents as glossier than the surrounding area. A pair of vertical parallel lines in the paint at the center left side, about 5 inches long and 3/8 inch apart. These lines don't look to be abrasions but might be marks left in the wet paint. Minor frame abrasion to l.c. edge.
Actual dimensions of the paperboard are 23 x 26 7/8 inches.
Frame dimensions: 34 x 38 in.
